CircBioCare researcher Virginie Joris receives ON/EORS Education Grant 2026

We are delighted to share that Dr. Virginie Joris, researcher at the MERLN Institute (Maastricht University) and member of the CircBioCare consortium, is one of the recipients of the ON/EORS Education Grants 2026. The grant was awarded by the ON Foundation at the 34th Annual Meeting of the European Orthopaedic Research Society (EORS), held in Madrid from 23 to 25 September 2026.

At EORS 2026, Virginie presented her research “MicroRNA signature and secretome of infrapatellar fat pad during osteoarthritis: Potential drivers of the disease”.

The ON/EORS Education Grants

The ON/EORS Education Grants support motivated young clinicians and researchers with a strong interest in orthoregeneration, helping them continue their training and connect with the international community working on joint preservation and tissue regeneration. Only ten grants were awarded this year, through a collaboration between the ON Foundation and EORS.

The infrapatellar fat pad: a key piece of the CircBioCare puzzle

Within CircBioCare, Virginie brings her expertise in microRNA biology and in silico tools. She supports the miRNA analysis and the in vitro models that help us understand how molecules released by joint tissues reach the bloodstream, a key step towards a simple blood test for early knee osteoarthritis.

This recognition reflects the quality of the young researchers driving CircBioCare forward. Congratulations, Virginie, from the whole consortium!
